When I was 10 i was givin a 30-30 model 94. never shot anything with it, when I was 12 I won a hunt at a ranch in junction and was upgraded to a M77 .270, which we bought brand new at carters country in pasadena. this is what i consider my "first" deer rifle.

had to pawn it once when I was 18, was able to save enough and get it back about a year later.

has a 3x9 redfield tracker, have had alot more hits than misses with it. Love this rifle

This from 1979, fresh out of the military. Ithica featherlight 20 ga. w/deer slayer barrell using slugs. Got the gun when I was 14 and still use it on doves. Being a lefty the bottom eject was great!

Believe it or not my first rifle was a Remington in 30-06 when i was 8 or 9! My shoulder is still intact and I still use it today. My son got his grandpa's 30-30 when passed.

Mine was my grandpas REM. 243. I shot my first deer with it a doe on one of his leases in Munster. That weekend he told me to take it home with me and keep it clean. He passed a month later. Not my nicest rifle but will always be my favorite.

I also got a model 94 30-30 for my first. Had a side mounted 4x scope on it. Shot my first doe and hog with it. Still got it even though I have been thinking of selling it to get another rifle, it is a pre64 model!

I inherited my grandfathers Rem 742 woodsmaster when he passed (I was only about 4 or 5) I still have it. When my wife & I got married, I was talking to her dad one time & found out that he had her Grandfathers rifle that he inherited & had it for sale on the bulletin board up at his work for $200, I didn't have the cash but offered to trade him a 30-30 lever action for the rifle, he accepted the trade so I have my Grandfathers rifle & my wifes Grandfathers rifle.

Mine was a Remington 700 in .30-'06 as well. My youngest daughter has latched on to it and insists that it's her's now. She took her first and most subsequent deer with it, so she'll end up with it.

First gun I hunted deer with is my Ivory Johnson Champion 20Ga that my Great Grandfather gave me when I was 3 years old. Still remember that day and still have the gun.

First rifle, Revolation 30-30, got my first few deer with it but problems with reliability cost me several more, bought my favorite deer rifle in 82 a Remington 788 in 7mm-08 still have it and someday I intend to pass it on.

I do, for my second birthday in 1972 my dad's best friend, a gunsmith, built me a custom mauser in 6mm remington. Still have and still kill deer with it, though usually during extended season.

I wish I did, but it was stolen along with the rest of my guns years ago. My first deer rifle was a Winchester Model 70 Ranger, chambered in 270, with a 4 x 16 Bushnell scope on it. I loved that gun, shot my first deer with it. I wish I still had it frown

I got my first deer rifle when I was 10 years old. It is a Browning 243 BDL. It has given many deer and hogs the dirt nap over the years.
My 11 year old son hunts with it now. He took his first deer (doe) with it last year.

I was born and raised in Lower Michigan, where it was all shot gun territry so I never bought/got a rifle till I was 20 yrs old and head out West to hunt.
I bought a Rugger Model 77 in 30-06 in 1969 and still have it to this day. Even though I own a bunch of different and much newer rifles that old Ruger is still my favorite and shoots as good as any of my nwere rifles.

Remington 700 BDL 6mm bought in late 60's. It is in the safe since last year. My Dad was using it and it had an issue with the scope so I brought back with me to put a new scope on it and loaned him back his old Remington 722 bought used in the early 60's that I had a new 6mm barrel put on about 17 yrs ago now. I had taken it from him when he said the barrel was shot out it was in in 300 Savage.

I had NEVER been deer hunting until after I was married. Borrowed my Dads Rem 870. No deer.
For Christmas that same year, new wife buys me a GLENFIELD 30A in 30-30. Both my sons learned to hunt with that gun. Still have it and will NEVER part with it.

I was 12-13 and attended a gun show at the high school cafeteria, yes they used to hold guns shows at my future high school, and found a Guy that had a Ruger M77 in 243. I negotiated a deal and came back with my dad who picked it up for me. Still have it but is now setup for coyotes.

I shot my first few deer with rifles borrowed from family members. Eventually I saved enough money by mowing lawns to have my dad buy me a rifle. It was Smith & Wesson (Howa) 7mm Rem Mag with a Bushnell Banner that my grandpa gave me. Decent rifle but I eventually upgraded and traded it off.

I do have my first .22 that my dad gave me. It's a JC Higgins (Sears & Roebuck) that his dad gave him. It dates back to the late 40's. Still in great shape and dead accurate. It's topped with a 6x Weaver (made in El Paso).

Also got my first shotgun, a Winchester Model 1300 Ranger, 12 gauge. That's been a great shotgun.
