First off, I want to let everyone know about a guy I found. Trevor Potts of Potts Land and Wildlife. He is out of Ardmore, Oklahoma, but him and his crews go all over Oklahoma and North Texas to do food plots, and establish, or build wetlands. (you can contact him at: pottswildlife@gmail.com )

They came down to my properties a couple times over the last couple of weeks to work on, and establish several deer food plots, and work on several of my wetlands. (for those that are friends of mine on Facebook, you have probably seen pictures I posted)

The last couple days they planted, fertilized and cultivated the soil.

Here is some pictures that I took. Thought I would share:

First discing of the soil to get ready to have dirtwork done...

After dirtwork was finished, the final levees in place and ready for secondary discing and planting.

Spot spraying unwanted grass in the planting areas:

Trevor working over the ground one more time before planting:

Cool Black and White pic:

Figuring out what seed, and mix of seed to plant:

Spreading seed:

Running the cultipacker to level out the ground and cover seed:

After the wetlands were complete we headed over to some of my deer hunting properties and prepared several areas to become "new" food plots.

One area they mowed, cut brush, and cleared out the area:

Then disc'd it up:

Another food plot required spraying first as there wasn't a good way to mow it:

I am VERY excited about everything, and with the rain we are getting today is only going to help the seed get going!

Looking forward to this coming year!

J.J.

Looks awesome. How big are your wetlands? I might be looking into doing something like that.

One is 1/2- 3/4 acre (small wetland)

Then I have one that is 1.5 - 2.25 acres (Big Wetland)

One thing I have learned is the bigger you make them the further they land away from you! smile

On the bigger one we planted taller, and bigger stuff to force them to land right infront of the blind!

Should start construction on the Kent Outdoors Hilton in the next month. 24' long X 6' wide wood Blind. It will be a stationary sturcture. Looking forward to building it!! up

Thanks for the nice comments, hard work paying off!!

I will probably begin to let it fill up the begining of Sept or end of August to see if I can get some teal and Resident Geese to start using it. Then pull it, and then re-fill it First of November and then keep it full all of season.

Haven't quiet figured my exact schedule yet! smile

The cabins are awesome. TreeBass took some pictures of them inside and out when we hunted up there last November and posted them in this thread:
