I finally brought the ranch into the 21st century by getting an internet connection, so I thought I would share two of the cats that I have rid the earth of here recently.

The first one is a large bobcat tom that I caught in a snare. His front right paw was caught, he just couldn't help but to play with the shiny string.

This next one was some what larger and harder to get.
A neighboring rancher gave me a call a week ago Sunday and said he had a cat problem I needed to handle. After a week of work and a hard, hot morning...kitty takes a nap.

This was an old monster of a cat. Two of his canines (would they be felines?) were broke off and the rest of his teeth were wore down to almost nothing. He was also missing the two middle toes on the right front paw...no wonder he was trap smart.

I'm six two and have fairly large hands (nothing huge) but look at this...

What an exciting morning this was.

Did you snare the lion or catch him with dogs?

Dang steve, I sure wished we could have ran into those the night me and Jordan hunted with you. Nice cats, congrats! How are the mule deer looking?

michael - you and me both. To be honest, I haven't seen that many on us yet. I had a bunch of cameras stolen not too long after you were here and haven't taken the time to track the mulies down or replace the cams. I'll have to get after that soon, they should start growing good here soon.

I roped my moms house cat once...let me say that again, once. I'm not man enough to pet a tornado with claws that's been tied to the end of a string. scared

No, I wish that could have worked out. He would have been a great mount. By the time the dogs had him treed at 10am they had already been working in pritty hot conditions since 6:30. The 13 year old looked like she was about to keel over, they were all in rough shape, not to mention this guy was spent. Richard had to get the dogs back to take care of them. The closest we could get the truck was just under a half mile; and like I told Turkeyhunter, there are cerian things I am just not man enough to do. I felt bad, I know it's a waste of a great cat, but I got his head and that will be skull mounted. Carrying that thing to the truck was bad enough.

I know, I know...let the wuppin' start.

It is kind of disappointing. Still good stuff though. I have got a lot of respect for those cats.

Contact the game warden. They will collect a small tissue sample from the tongue and will document the location and everything else. The wildlife authorities are trying to document and trace all mountain lion/ cougar kills and sightings.
