Hello to all, New to forum(first time posting), though ive been on here reading numerous articles for a few years. Its nice to have such a great group of people with endless amounts of extremely useful information and first hand knowledge. That being said i was wondering what everyone thought of this gun. I am 95% sure this will be my next gun due to the fact its time for a larger cartridge. Id like to hunt whitetail, elk, and possibly bear with this rifle. Any input of what yall think the "best" cartridge would be for me would be appreciated.? I think ive narrowed it down to the .270/.280/or 7mm-08...Thanks in advance...Also what scope would you recommend (has to be silver) and not over $2000.

you better beef up if you plan on shooting a bear with any of these calibers..Not sure a guide will let you shoot one with one of these calibers..Im not saying it wouldnt kill one,but you want to drop a bear as quickly as possible..There are many discussions in this thread about calibers.Look at all them and make a choice..I personally like the 30-06 since i can shoot all the way up to a 220 grain bullet..I would use it on most game, but if I was hunting bears I would have to reach for my 300 mag..Plus its not that much more expensive to but a mag caliber...Good luck..You seem not too limited if you have that much money budgeted for a rifle and scope...

Well that by far is one of the pimpest rifles there is this year. Is it worth $1850?????? You dont care if its long or short action, so I wouldn't get any of those calibers you mentioned. You are obviously building the gun of a lifetime or you just have to much money If you are going to use it on elk and bear I would jump up to a minimum of a 270wsm or 300wsm for a short action and a 300 win mag for a long action. I personally would pick the 300 wsm for the short bolt and the power and distance of a 300 mag. The ballistics are awesome and you can get big heavy grain bullets. The ones you mention just dont have the umph as the magnums. Scope, good luck on that finding a silver one. Why not black with silver rings and bases? I would get a Swarvoski, kahles, or a tactical leupold you could dial in. You are getting my dream gun from the off the shelf rifles! Let us see it when its put together.

Give the .280 a long look. The .280 with the right bullet will do just about anything you ask of it.

If you are gonna spend that much, and are looking for a lightweight rifle, i personally would go with the browning ti-titanium. much better gun from what i have heard. also very accurate not to mention how much nicer it looks camo stock and stainless finish! i have hunting all over north america, and you would not be undergunned with any of the calibers you mentioned above! guides would let you use it as long as it is black bear you are talking about..

I'll second this. I haven't had anything shrug one off yet. I'd take it in a heartbeat as long as it's a black bear that we are talking about. Now a Grizz might be another story

Have not bought the rifle yet. Now Im looking at custom guns and really like some of the McWhorter custom rifles. Can't decide if im going to commit completely on a custom rifle or go the Alaskan route for now...
