this guy hasnt been seen since he was in velvet last summer. after hearing about a "big buck" getting hit by a car just down the road and nobody seeing him all season, i assumed it was him. i am oh so happy it wasnt. we were still in the car on the way back from checking the camera, i make my wife drive so i can look at the pics, and i made my 2 year old start crying by yelling like an idiot. crazy how they can disappear like that, especially in the area he is in, which isnt very big at all. i noticed him in the far back left of the first pic and knew he wasnt one of the regulars.... cant wait till bow season.
If I send my neighbors a text and ask them to give me feedback on my lawn and plant rye into a giant dong pattern, I'm probably going to get some less than positive feedback. Same goes here.

That is an awesome typical. The G4s are world class on that buck. Everything else is above avg. I would be camped out on that deer from day one of bow season. Good luck. What a great thing to look forward to next season.

I would be ashamed to admit I made my 2 yr old cry over a piddly buck like this Great looking buck! Love that tine length on him. He is a mature buck that looks pretty rutted down, but it is great to see him at the feeder.

You feeding corn or protein out of that feeder? Do the coons bother it? it is about 60/40 corn/protein right now, about to add some split black eye peas to it this weekend, anything i can do to keep him close, i only have about 40 acres. plan on a small food plot next month and will keep this feeder full all summer. and yes, the coons are ALL OVER IT from about 11p to 3a...lol thanks guys, he is BY FAR the best deer i have ever seen on land that i hunt and i can only pray that i get a chance at him next season.

I've noticed that a lot of the bucks we see during summer/early fall are often times gone during hunting season.
There's generally a group of new bucks that show up at my feeder mid-November, that hang around until around Christmas, only to disappear again.
About time they disappear I'll actually start to see the original bucks that I had seen during the Summer/Early Fall.
This is especially true with the older/bigger bucks I see.
I wonder if it's Mother Nature's way of preventing inbreeding if the bucks actually travel to breed does, rather than breed the actual does on his home-turf??
Not sure, just something we've noticed the past 2-3 years.
Now this may not be the case on much larger ranches, our biggest section is 640 acres, with several 160 acre sections scattered around.
Wonder if on the bigger ranches do you see deer on different areas of the ranch during the rut? Do they disappear from areas you typically see them during the summer?

Very Nice Inspiraiton right there. yes it is. and seeing him has definately got me already thinking about improving my hunting habits, scent control, noise discipline, etc...

little piece of family land in hunt county around tawakoni. i hunted it through high school in the late 90's and hardly ever saw deer at all, just started going back out there the second week of deer season last year. cant believe what i have been missing right in my backyard.
