Anyways here is the short story. I purchased a Pentax 4x16 awhile back on ebay. It was from one of Opticsplanet.com other ventures. It came with a $15.00 off coupon for an order over $150.

Well what I wanted was another new style Nikon Prostaff 4-12x40, they are really alot better than the old ones Nikon did good on the 2011 revamp. Anywho Nikon was running a promotion on them and that scope was $50 off, reg $209, then $159. Well that qualifies for free shipping from opticsplanet. Plus my $15.00 coupon dropped it to $144.

I ordered it and in a couple of days I got a message that it was back ordered. Okay I will wait. Then I get a message that for an upcharge they will sell me a Redfield 4-12. We I have one of those and I am not all that impressed. I say no I will wait. Then I get an offer for a Buckmaster 4-14.5 for $130 more. No I will wait is my reponse again.

Went to check my order today to see if there was any update. My order has been canceled. Called put on hold, never picked up again. Sent an email and posted on their forum, still not answer.

They still show my scope as available, so here is what I think happened. With the Nikon promotion, free shipping, and my coupon they were losing money on it. So instead of telling me they couldn't honor the coupon they try to upcharge me.

When I wouldn't bite they just canceled my order, no email, no phone call. Just canceled it. Now the promotion is over and I am out a good deal. TO heck with them and shame on Nikon for allowing a company as shady as them to carry their line.

Sorry SWFA, I will never make that mistake again. So what if I have to pay shipping and Tax.

I am a big fan of SWFA, they have done right by me. However, I have never had a bad experience with Optics Planet, and I have ordered at least 5 scopes from them. They lost a lot of money on one deal (mis marked a price on their website and still honored it for me). I think it would be worth your time to call and ask to speak to a customer service rep.

OP has done that before but without the hassle but I can usually find the product elsewhere that I like dealing with.

I ordered a holster from them through Amazon and after over a week and a half of waiting for them to ship it I canceled the order. Never will deal with them again.

I don't think they are shady but they don't have a live updated in-stock system. I have tried to order two different scopes and both times afterwards I got an email saying they were backordered. I ended up buying a different scope. Here's to hoping it comes in fast.

I will never use them. I ordered a scope that was in stock to find out it was back ordered. They said they would not charge me until it shipped. I then checked my bank account to find out that I had already been charged for it. I then cancelled the order. I fought with them for 3 or 4 days to get my money back. I only got it when i threatened to file charges for theft.If you use them good luck.

I know multiple people, including myself, who have ordered something that was supposed to be in stock, then wait & wait & wait, lied to & then cancel the orders. They are a no-go in my book!

Well it is a lesson learned, I wish they had at least had the guts to tell me the deal wouldn't work. I could have got the same scope from SWFA, without the $15 coupon and free shipping. Now the promotion is over and it is too late.

Had one good transaction with them and one horrible, I just thought I would bring it up on here to let my brothers on here know they are rolling the dice.

SWFA and Natchezss for me. Although I think SWFA has better customer service.

You know that we make every diligent effort to Price Match our competitors and BEAT their price.

Being in Tx, I cannot do anything about the tax, that is a state regulation that I have to abide by.

But I am going to get on the phone and see what I can find out for you on that same scope.

I have ordered from optics planet 4 times and all 4 times my scopes came a day before promised. Nothing but praise from my end and from all four purchases, I bet I saved more than $500 compared to the next best price I found online or forums.

Nothing beats customer service like this. I have never bought from SWFA but now I will. This is how I do business and this is what I expect from others. Glad to know about SWFA and I will guide others over to you too!

I don't call anyone but SWFA. Haven't for years. Oh I look thru other companys' ads, but when i get ready to buy optics, I never look beyond SWFA's site.

Just got off the phone with Skylar and he flat hooked me up. He honored Opticsplanets price and free shipping. I learned my lesson, and won't even bother buying any optics online anymore. Will just call SWFA and talk to a real person about my needs.

Skylar went above and beyond on this one, I didn't even expect anyone to help me out I just wanted to vent and warn others.

I ordered from them once and received the wrong part though the paperwork that was received with the order showed the part that was ordered. The part ordered relative to the one received was roughly the same value - don't have an issue there but they wanted me to eat the cost to ship the incorrect part back and pay for shipping on the correct part... after a bit of arguing they rectified the matter correctly.

I too had an order of "in stock" items.
Was told items were shipping.
2 days later, I was emailed that items were backordered.
I cancelled my order.

tried to order couple of times from "opticsplanet" via phone - they tried to upsell me "better" stuff and pushed hard. when I refused to budge,they told me that decired item is out of stock and hung up immediately after.
Tried to order online other time - they could not confirm "in stock" and did not answer ANY emails.

Chuck, if you weren't so tight to begin with this wouldn't have happened.
