We talk about smooth actions and I think we all like them. What do you all say is the smoothest boltaction rifle ever made? My pics are all older guns.
I think it is the 1903 Mannlicher Schoenauer followed closely by an 1892 Krag-Jorgensen and 1903 Springfield

I have never handled any of the ones you mentioned but of the ones that I have played with I would say the Colt Sauer is the smoothest.

That's a really good question. I look forward to all the answers-I don't think I have owned enough different kinds of bolt actions to be qualified on the subject.
I learned long ago you can't reason someone out of something they don't reason themselves into.

I can tell you a Savage is definately NOT the smoothest bolt action! All three of the ones in my safe will let you wobble the bolt all the way to battery....But they sure shoot good after that.

I have not handled many but my m70 is the smoothest and locks up tighter than any of the other bolt actions I have felt. I mean this thing is TIGHT

Short of the high end customs my FN commercial Mauser and 1903 are really smooth. Out of the newer bolt actions made by the bigger companies I'd say Sako/Tikka are up there.

I think its going to be hard to beat the Mannlicher Schoenauer with a factory rifle.

Of the ones I have.
1.Remington 721 2.Remington 722 3.Springfield 03 4.Remington 03 5.Weatherby MK V 6.Ruger 77 7.Remington 700 8.Remington 600 9.Winchester 70 10.Styer Prohunter (the tightest of all but by far the most accurate) .
Yes! A Weatherby does kill them deader.

Mauser 98 & 96, most everything made in the last 80 years owes something to the bolt jerkers.

That I own it's a race between a slick old enfield and a tikka. I have shot an older Sako that was noticeably finer than the tikka and a nice but not significantly better mannlicher.

I'd kick sand in my Tikka and Sako over my Cooper.
