* * Along with the 12 PAID Hunters we have the landowners Family hunting and the Drunkin ranch mgr and his drunk kids hunting ) I am getting tired of it.It is not part of our agreement.
Thanks

I had the same thing in Hamilton county. The acreage wasn't big, the deer population was good and we had been letting some of the deer grow for 5 years and starting to see some good ones. The biggest buck killed there was killed by the land owners drunken buddy. The land owner kept increasing the off limits "family area" of the lease and hunting in our blinds too leaving the beer cans and cigarette butts for us to clean up. He went up on price and we left, not because it was too much to pay for the quality of the hunting, but too much to pay for that a-holes crap. He even would come into our trailers and take food. I would advise you to leave 'cause for that money you can do much better. BTW, when you find a good place, call me, I'm still looking.

I work hard, drink a little and hunt when I can.

I think i Just found a Free place for to hunt next year. 360 acres around jacksboro area, with a good buddy and one of his friends. All ammenities except water. Allready has 3 stands and feeders setup, with a mobile home to stay in. Not been hunted in a few years, noone hunting on properties directly around it either. Lots of wild life with a fishing pond, that has deer coming to it to drink while fishing it in the summer. I sure hope this deals works out !!

Hunt 4400 acre high fence for does, spikes, and fork horns. Light on the pocketbook at $0. Get to see some HUGE bucks on regular basis (huge to me--130's and 140's common). Coolest part of getting to hunt is just to see the big dudes. Stephenville area

Bowhunt 55 acres in Menard between me and my dad. I've taken 4 deer and a turkey with a bow and 1 8 pt. with rifle. $0.

Who knows though...landowner of high fence place may ask me next year to cull an older deer that doesn't make 130. Their culls are my trophies!

I have a place in east Texas, 120 acres that is free. I have helped the owner out with some fencing and caring for animals. Biggest expense is the gas to drive out there. Seeing lots of does, few small bucks (none so far outside AR rules), and the occassional road hunter drive by. Thank goodness for the rains, as it keeps them away from the huntinf area, road gets slick and ugly to manage then.

Pay $1750, 5000 acres, low fence, 8 hunters. Have electricity. We've killed several 140-150 class bucks over the last several years. West Texas. Paying for gas to get out there is the hardest part.

I guess I win the idiot award so far. Mason county first and last year 07/08. 200 acres, 150 huntable ( due to 50 around her house off limits ). 4 guns at 1450.00 each. Small block cabin with electricity, has water 50 feet from cabin. Buddy paid 2000.00 so his daughter could hunt, I got another friend to pay 1000.00 at the last minute. I pais 2800.00. It was the landowner from hell, she stole our toilet paper and paper towels. We went down before season and spent two days cutting tree limbs and mesquite away from all the ranch roads ( she wanted to charge us to stay in the " accomodations" since it wasn't deer season. Yeah right we did all that free labor for her as a favor. Alot more to tell, but this year was our last there. So we're looking again for 08/09.

We also built 3 80' diameter feeder pens that we left. There were 15 cows on the place when we looked at it by the season start there were about 40 and 10 or 12 angora goats. We killed 5 bucks and 3 does between the four people that hunted, all were typical Mason county deer. Alot of rain put some good weight on them though.

well we pay $1000 to hunt the lease we are on
its about 1300 ac with elec. no runnig water but we do have a wind mill
we have 10 hunters and the rancher has about 200+ ac around his place that he hunts
your wife and your kid can only hunt with you if the kid is under 18 on are lease and no guest during any seasons
we have been on this lease for about 11 years and we have taken some nice bucks off of it. the first few years we didn't see much but now they are getting better. the best buck taken off was a 150 class buck, but the rancher found a skull that was a nice 12 that was 175 class.
if you want a $1000 lease you have to find one that doesn't have much on it like elec.,water, and a cabin.

Dead in there tracks!!!

3500 acres in the Texas pandle
6 hunters at $2500 each
Water and elec and we all have travel trailers.
Both mule deer and whitetails on a year round lease
Been there 3 years. No one hunts but the 6 paid hunters and the minor children get to shoot does and managemant bucks.
Ain't cheap but it's good hunting.

4 hunters , 1300 acres....1500 a gun , electricity , no running water , no camphouse only campers , 3 years now.....landowner has one foot in the grave and the other on banana peel...children will inherit and have their pens on the dotted line for sale...we are needing something more secure for the future although we cannot find a better deal than this..

920 Acres, 4 guns, $7000 for all year ($1750 gun). Stephens county, Level 3 MLD. We get 4 mature bucks, every spike we see, and doe harvest is set by TPWD for the entire ranch in September. We usually are supposed to take between 4 and 8 does each year. We do have an old house and electricity, but the house aint much.

There is an alternative to high lease prices.

71.5 acres in Montague County, about 1.5 hours from the metromess. Currently, the drunken landowner (that would be me)has decided to part with one of his places. For a cool $200K, you can do just as you please. Lots of deer but none actually shot off the place in the last 7 or 8 years. I also own the place next door. A couple of idiots, RICK O' SHAY and his BIL Del, sometimes come by and stay up all night acting as scarecrows to keep the hogs away from the stock tanks, feeders and creek.

Has about a 10 acre food plot that I always plant so the nocturnal deer and hogs can eat well.

Halfass barn and bass and bluegill in the 3/4 acre stock tank.

OK, getting serious; it's a neat place. However, I just turned 65 and am pulling back on some stuff.

Without a sense of urgency, nothing ever happens.

Boy, if I say "sic em", you'd better look for something to bite. Sam Shelley, Rancher Muleshoe Texas 1892-1985 RIP
