Anyone know a good way to mount a spotlight in a jon boat? Something in the back of the boat that can be adjusted by the driver?

Build or buy a hard hat light and you'll throw rocks every other lighting source on the market. A must have especially for guys running mud rigs that stand while running.

I run down channel but Im looking at the bank or tree line beside me. I want the light where the boat is going. Not where Im looking beside me. Thats just me.

I have the stancion mount, as my bow light was further set back, so to avoid the glare stancion mount worked.

Hard hat lights are the way to go!! What's the point of having a light pointing in the direction your not looking? The boat is going the same direction as the light is pointing. I am looking at the tree line to stay in the channel. I DONT want to run toward where Im looking.

I can still see the tree line in the dark because all the light glare is in front of me. Same reason head light are in front of your car and not inside.

I recently bought this at Cabelas. It works great in the garage but haven't used it on the water yet but I expect it to be better than my hand held. The picture shows a bar mount which I used but it includes a pedastal mount you could screw to your bench seat or side wall as well.

Let me clarify. When running, obviously I am looking forward the majority of the time. However, I do not run open water reservoirs usually. Rather rivers and creek channels that are twisting and have many areas where I am looking for specific landmarks, tree limbs, stick ups, channel cuts, etc... having a hard hat light affords you the ability to place the light EXACTLY where you need it to be while you have one hand on the tiller and the other on the grab bar. Cuz I don't know about the rest of yous but I ain't running open, clean water. Rather waters that ar twisting, turning, rocky, stumpy, etc..where you had better be hanging on to something cuz the underwater obstructions are just waiting to ive you a cold bath if one is hit at speed at the wrong angle. Problem with bow mounted lights is that depending on your load, they may point to high or too low given any load situation when running. I ain't into crawling over everything to get to the lights to angle them more up or down. If you run with the same load everytime then I could see the set it and forget it mindset. Me, my load ( number of passenger and/or gear) changes just about every hunt. Different strokes for everyone, but I'll take pinpoint lighting exactly where and when I need it every time. What my eyes are looking for is where the light goes. And if you guys have never seen the amount of light a 100w aircraft landing bulb puts out it will enlighten you

I've never had an issue with glare and like Homey said I've yet to find bow mounted lights that I didn't have to consistently adjust or fix from knocking off. The Go-light tracks to slow for me from my experience, but I might just run faster than most at o'darkthrity!

I've seen some guys here in LA that use a 3-4ft pole that the light is mounted to and then to their seat on some type of bearing or swivel so it turns. Seems to work pretty good but I just hold my light cause most of the time it's off after I make it through the stump gauntlet.
