100% agree. Recent ex gf wanted me to go to her familys thanksgiving. I said nope, I'll spend it with my family and hunt. I told her from the start, hunting is my passion and that won't change with you.
Ex from before her understood much better. She wouldn't have even thought to ask that. And once Christmas came, I had a brand new higdon pulsator

I would have fallen on the ground laughing. I was 2 hours late to the inlaws on thanksgiving.

I didn't come home for Thanksgiving and leaving the day after Christmas to go back.

I'll probably keep her around until I graduate in a year then move on. She's fun to be around most of the time but I couldn't be married to her. I don't see the point in having the same thing with a different chick now.

I hunted Thanksgiving. Probaby not going to make a Christmas Day hunt but will be out there Friday and Sunday no doubt.

You have to break them in slowly. I told my wife of 5 years how much I loved hunting and it was a little tough at first but, the trick is to add one hunt on every year ( These are spend the nights and I have 3 kids under the age of 4). I started off telling her I was hunting opening day dove, and both duck openers. 5 years later, I still have those and I have added the December dove/duck split, a sandhill crane/goose/duck hunt a spring turkey hunt and i'm popping the late spring prairie dog hunt on her in a few months.

Griff your wife gets the bird flu every year on August 31, and doesnt get over it till January 31st. In 10 years you might get to hunt 10 days a season

I always have a gf until hunting season rolls around. They dont mind the bass fishing because they can "tan" but once hunting season rolls around its pretty well done.

I had the same thing. She said I can't go hunting...I told her to find somebody else. Life is way to short to have someone who won't be understanding.

After 13 years of marrige mine has it figured out finally. It also helps that our son likes to hunt as much as me.

My wife knew goin into it that it was my passion (she's a deer hunter). Kinda got annoyed with me being gone all the time at first, but it's gotten better. My buddies joked that my hunting will decrease once I get married, the opposite has happened. Now they're telling me it will as soon as I have kids...All of them are single...and not by choice

I put that foot down from day one. I told her to move along if she could not live with "Hey I am going hunting and I'll be back when the killing is done".

She is always welcome to go and she does quite often. But she doesn't jack with me as she knows she is wasting precious air trying to tell me anything during hunting season.

I did pull onto my street after work last night thinking how I was going to jump on my layout/skull/sneak boat project. As I approached the house I noticed a ladder in my front yard. I saw both of my nieghbors across and down the street so I knew no funny business was going on (because they remain fully armed at all times and watch our places closely). Ohhhh no problem dear I get the hint, Christmas lights. SO I believe there is a fair amount of give and take.
