WeAreDuckHunters
November 10th, 2010 Dearest Waterfowler,
It is our goal at We Are Duck Hunters to provide our users with the most up to date and accurate waterfowl migration statistics on the web. Everyday, we analyze weather patterns and bird counts in staging areas to give you the most accurate reports available. While we combine analyst reports from around North America on a regular basis, occasionally our team identifies worthwhile fronts and patterns that will most likely result in widespread success. Please pay attention to the featured article, as WADH is forecasting a potential arctic blast with extensive potential affects for waterfowlers. You Heard it Here First
Currently, we are watching the first real potential for a United States and Canada arctic blast/major waterfowl migration push form over Central Siberia... Wait did they just say Siberia!?! That's right, we said Siberia... The mass of cold air is expected to head east and then south (through Canada and into the US), shocking staged ducks in Canada and the northern third of the United States into a mass migration. If everything goes according to plan, waterfowl hunters will be scrambling to take off work and get their "late season" jacket and waders out of the attic.
Simply put, the cold air is expected to collide with unusually warm air out of the southeast, creating severe snow and blizzard like conditions for the northern third of the Mississippi, Central, and possibly the Atlantic Flyway. The cold front is expected to hit the northern portion of the Central and Mississippi Flyway sometime in the 3rd week of November.
Cold front/arctic blast that could shock the ducks and send hunters scrambling...
In general, we are watching cold air develop over Siberia that is expected to make its way eastward over the next week, with powerful jet streams moving the arctic blast into Canada and then south into the central portion of the United States.
Potential for major migration over the Central and Mississippi Flyway, where cold air could clash with unusually warm air building in the east, has a possibility of creating extremely favorable conditions.
For those trying to understand what exactly the storm means, WADH is predicting for the first major migration to unfold the weekend and week leading up to Thanksgiving. Realistically, strong winds and blizzard like conditions will unfold in multiple flyways.
I hope this warmed your heart!
Cappy ... At my side for thirteen years, in my heart forever.

Yep, here is their photographic evidence of a weather map of Siberia. Don't have a clue what I'm looking at... What you are seeing there is some VERY cold air. There is a pressure system out Noerthwest that will be pushing said cold air down. Hopefully some rain will be picked up before then, it not it will just be a cold spell and ducks passing North Texas by.

You might feel more convinced if you look at the forecast lows beginning tomorrow for Rapid City SD. http://www.accuweather.com/us/sd/rapid-city/57701/forecast-month.aspThat's always been a barometer for me of what to expect over the next week or so. Then look at the Hi/Low beginning on the 17th. That will close many smaller bodies of water and start a good push South, IMO.

Well, I was in the deer stand on Sat, morning and a couple guys decided to duck instead. It was non-stop shooting for 20 minutes and they were done thank goodness due to WWIII going on 1/2 mile away. All green-wing teal though! Hundreds of them. Guess it is still September in places.
