With the change away from Daylight Savings Time not happening until Sunday morning, sunrise Saturday will be at roughly 7:40am.

So what time do you intend to arrrive and get into your stand Saturday morning?

I also noticed a peak feeding period at roughly 1:30pm Saturday afternoon. With the rut in full swing in most of East Texas and the weather expected to be cool, it could be a great day to tough it out and stay all day.

I get my stand at least 1 1/2 hour before sunrise. If I am by myself I will be there all day.

It matters if you can't find your rifle.

In stand at 6:00 am. Stay all day if by myself. If others are there, probably sit until 10:30, go eat breakfast and back out by 12:00 or 12:30 and sit the rest of the day......

So over 2 hours before sunrise? That's a little overkill for me. I'll get in the stand by 6:30ish.

My game camera has been showing deer at the feeder at 6:30, so I'm thinking 5:30. I have a 300+ yard treck across a field but fortunately it's all down hill.

Sadly I won't be in the blind this weekend

It's the in laws 40th wedding anniversary so we'll be out of town for the party we're throwing them. I tried to get out of it but worked out a compromise.

Instead of going opening weekend I get to hunt the 10th-14th instead. We're in a 1 buck county so I'm not worried and think I got the better end of the deal. The only thing I'm really going to miss is the Friday night food/comradery between the guys out on our property

I'm a bit concerned that the time i say I will be in my stand and the actual time I will be in my stand will differ. Luckily it's only a 1/8th of a mile walk from the cabin. I'm going to shoot for 6:00

Probably 6-6:15am. Sunrise isn't until 7:53 at my place. May go in a bit later if it's cloudy.

No moon, pre-rut definitely started, 31 degrees that morning.

Sounding pretty perfect.

I usually start heading in around 5:30 am and try to be set up and quiet with a cup of coffee by six. I like to be quiet a bit before civil twilight. But...the first couple weekends I like to be a little earier and listen for atv's. That way I can get a feel for where others are set up.

Priddy, let me just say that I was actually praying that my buck wouldn't show up, because I didn't know if my head would stay intact if I had to pull the trigger! lol

As it turned out, my buck did show up, teased me for about 30 minutes going in and out of cover, and then I dropped him. My head did not explode, but my knees were jello for about 15 minutes.
