This is a 175 lb. boar I cought with a coyote snare and killed it with one shot from a Ruger 22. So far I've snared 24 coyotes and 4 hogs with my yote snares. Havin fun with it, too. This one will make a bang up Euro Mount.

Nice, do you have a link to the snare you used or did you make it yourself? Ever accidently snared a deer or something?

No deer yet, I think it was prosnares.com, but it took me over a month to get them.

Make that 25 yotes, I snared another one this morning. And I have snared about 5 coons, and a couple of armadillos.

We have run a bunch of those snares on a place in kendall county that we used to lease. We caught everything that crawled throught the hole in them. We caught racoons, porkypines, deer, hogs, over 200 in one year, spanish goates, and audads. That is all I can recal off the top of my head. They work very well if you are over run with hogs, but are indiscriminant killers to.

Also nice to see someone who actualy weights there pig not just post a pic and say how big do you think this is. If your pig is that big you will find a scale.

Cool

I used to run a snare line on about 15 miles of a HF ranch. Probably caught in excess of 30 hogs, 40+ yotes, chingos coons, couple of bobcats, armadillos, a fox, and one 5 point buck that was trying to go through a hole that was no bigger then 12" wide and 7-8" tall! All this in about a 6 month span with about 80-100 snares.

It is a ton of fun to do and I used to love doing it every morning after the hunt.

I know what you mean, it makes me laugh when I see pictures in magazines saying "300 lb. hog" when it actually probably weighs maybe 100 and they always look bigger than they actually are hanging up. I like it too when people say I killed about a 400 pounder last ...whenever. I look at them and say, "No you didn't, unless you show me a picture of it on a scale, I won't believe it." A 250 lb. wild hog is big. A 400 pound wild boar is extremely rare or has been eating someone's feed. I've had hunters harvest quite a few over 300 lbs. but it was pure luck and doesn't happen very often. Pictures lie, I can make a 100 lb. hog look 500 lbs. and a 120 class deer look close to 170. I agree with you, don't say it unless you can prove it. A good way to judge one is if you can pick it up it will probably weigh 150 or less, if it takes 2 people to pick it up, it probably weighs 250 or less. I don't know too many average hunters that can pick up much more dead weight than that. If it takes me, (not bragging but I work out with 405 lbs. on dead lift doing 3 sets of 10)and 2 other (possibly 3 other) fellas to pick up a hog to load it in the truck and I know it wieghs 350+, then I know most people are lying when they say they loaded up a 300 lb. hog by themselves in the back of a truck with no help from other equipment. Any way, I'm glad you agree, I'll get off my soap box now.
