Yesterday my dad was helping his neighbor look for some of his cows that got out, Dads 81, and Royce is 79. While looking they had a pack of 16 dogs come over the levee, they didnt think that much of it until the dogs tried to challenge them. They yelled a time or two and they ran off.

Today I walked thru the woods on the back side of the levee looking for the same cows, heard dogs barking about 50 yards from me thru the woods, didnt think that much of it, (had my AK and pistol with me)

Top the levee and there are 4 dogs standing over a pig around 50 lbs they had obivously just killed. I dropped back down, turned on my E.O. tech, popped back up and yelled, they were about 50 yards away, they look up and two of them charge my way!!.

first shot takes 1st one down gut shot, goes into a spin, #2 distracted veers off, heart lung takes him out, 3 and 4 head for cover and I take them out.

Anybody else ever have this happen?? I would hate to think about the kids down at the creek playing anb being attacked so now i am on a mission, there was 16, now there are 12 to go

YES! If not for my Ruger p89 I would have been attacked several years ago at our camphouse by a pack of 8 wild dogs. I killed the first 3 that charged me and came back with 5 WELL armed friends to get the rest. There were 2 rottwielers(sp?), and 1 doberman in the bunch. None had a collar and were not friendly. I NEVER go to the woods unarmed.

One of my friends was ATTACKED by an EMU on his deer lease. His son had to shoot it off of him with a 22.

There is not enough houses within 5 miles to have that many dogs, between my Dad and his neighbors around him there is over 4500 acres owned by 5 families that have 2 dogs apiece, except for one family and they have 3, and i know all those dogs, These are definatly wild/strays

My father told me a story back in the 60s about a pack of dogs north of Weatherford. There was a area about where Peaster is now that people all brought their dogs out to dump them. At that time many people run sheep and hair goats back then. The pack grew to about 35 to 40 dogs of all breeds. The ranchers found where they were kinda holdin up at in a barn on what is now DRY CREEK Rd. The dogs were so feral that they charged on site. It took a week to kill all the dogs, but the dogs had already killed over 70 sheep an goats.
Since then it been bad for any dogs dropped off at the ranch.
I have a government trapper buddy that killed 4 pit bulls 27 miles from the nearest town last year that wiped out a goat herd.

To tell the truth I would love to catch someone throwing out dogs. It would be nice to take them out in the middle of the desert an kick their asers out to starve to death. Tough way to go. Sorry asers people.

Have dealt with those kind of dogs for years growing up. My dad adn I got 5 one morning that had a calf penned in the barn. Another time neighbor called a different pack had calf in fence corner. Have been sent packing out of woods, seen a pack tear up a domestic dog (litterally torn apart). Wild dogs are one of the most dangerous things in the woods in my opinion. take then all out. If catch someone dumping animals turn them in. Punishment not stiff enough but better than nothing.

We have had to take out a couple of dogs and emu in Kansas. I encountered a large pack in the 80's at Gus Engling while bow hunting. I backed out of the area without getting noticed. My bow was no match for a group of 10 plus wild dogs.

You guys are so wrong. It's not the dogs fault it's the owner's. If those dogs were to be caught and then hugged daily inside the warmth of a loving home full of small children they'd become some of the best dogs you could ever ask for...spread the love people...

Have had it happen before. Had 2 come up to the goat pen messing with them, one charged while the other stood its ground...killed charger #1 and #2 took off but got it in the field. Then had a pack of 6 come up to the barn messing with a couple bottle calves, got 5 out of those 6...#6 was some small terrier type that left a piss trail back to where it came from.

Its pretty common for some areas that either people dump them off to fend for themselves or where people don't frequent.

I've also see where the beloved family pet has too much freedom and hunts with other dogs while unsupervised. Daddy gets home from work and Fido is there waiting for him, but while daddy's away Fido will play. The owners don't usually believe it's happening until Fido comes home gut shot by the neighboring goat owner.

I hope your kidding Cody! You my friend are dead wrong if you aren't kidding. True I agree it is originally not the dogs fault but, once they start running in a pack with other wild dogs that are half starved to death it would take more therapy than a warm home and a few hugs to reverse them.

In my own experience with one of the best dogs I ever had, a black mouth mountain cur dog. Was a great dog until he matured at around 3 yrs old. Then he starting showing aggression towards me and my daughter. Long story short he snapped at my daughters face one afternoon and when I went to correct him he lunged and bit me on the chin. Needless to say I took him hunting later that afternoon while I was still mad and had the ability to do what needed to be done! Yes he never made it back from that hunting trip!

While I have never had them attack me, I have had several encounters with wild dogs. Matter of fact, yesterday I was out coyote hunting and called in three. My buddy was the shooter and I was too far away from him to give him the ok to take these particular feral dogs out, so he didn't...I told him that there were some domestic ones in the area I have called in before so dont shoot them if he saw em. Needless to say, these werent them and they got away. I kinda feel bad when I kill them, but the local sherriff made it clear that they were dangerous and should be shot if they had no collar. I guess I would feel worse if I didnt kill them and a child was hurt or killed by a feral dog. In my observation, Feral dogs act wild like coyotes but disregard the human scent and tend to come much closer when I am calling coyotes.

I know you're just kidding, but my first response would be, "Heck, it's not like you can shoot the owners".

My aunt and uncle have a cattle ranch. They've always said that wild dogs kill just to kill while coyotes kill for food.

I have lived in DFW all my life, but when I was a kid we had a couple acres in North Dallas and dad brought home some ducks and chickens for Easter. One thing leads to another and before we realize it we have a full chicken coop with egg laying hens in the backyard.

Couple of pitts tore through the chicken wire and killed 15 out of the 20 hens we had in the coop. Brother and I went out with some baseball bats and they hauled it out of there. Found out somebody else capped 'em a couple days later. Wild dogs are the same as yotes with one difference- they aren't scared of people. KILL EM ALL.

I had a pack following and barking at me at Lake Whitney about 15 years ago. They were pretty agressive, but they stayed at least 8-10 yards away. I luckily had a shotgun so I felt safe enough to not have to shoot any.

Hey Cody, I took your advise, i went out yesterday and tried the "hug" method... It didnt work, I tried explaining to them how I know it wasnt their fault, it was ours, just like I learned from Obama, but they still attacked me, barking, in what im sure if translated to english would have been the words ALLAH AKBAR!!!!

So now is it ok to kill them??? or do I need to give them more land and 72 virgin goats,

Try one more time...lead with the fleshy part of your right cheek...if that doesn't work have Vernon come and hug them...

Yep, I walked up on a pack of dogs on our place one day years ago. About 6 of them. One was trying to dig a diller out of his hole while the rest layed around. One saw me and they all went on alert. The digger charged me and stopped about 30' away. I was looking at him through the scope. He moved, and died. Don't know if his intend was to advance or retreat. But he moved and died. I hit two more before they made the tree line, but they were only wounded and still running when they went out of site.

I will kill any dog that is obviously a heathen. They have no home, no owner, and no reservations about jumping on almost anything. It's better for us, the livestock, and them if they are just taken out.
