THF - Dog Days before Summer "Dog Training Seminar" April 24th

The event will run from 9:00 A.M. sharp till 4:00 (maybe later)

It will be here on my property in Pottsboro, TX.

John and Beth Ann Amico will conduct the seminar and show and teach you how to train an outstanding hunting dog.

John and Beth Ann are on the national Cabela's Pro Staff. They give seminars for Cabela's all over the nation. They are the owners of Deep Fork Retrievers in Oklahoma.

I am going to limit this to 45 participants only.

Cabelas and the Dallas Safari Club has offered to help me out with the event! Cabelas has also said they will have training equipment available to help with the seminar.

Because of this I am able to offer the seminar at:
Cost is $35 (which is a steal)
**(cost covers the seminar and food)

You are welcome to bring "your" dog, if you wish. You "MUST" have your dog kenneled during the event, until you are asked to have your dog participate in some of the exercises.

I will have an outline of the topics that John will go over during the seminar here in the couple of days.

So that I can fill all spots, I will require those that would like to particapate to send your money in before April 4th. After that you will loose your spot. (and alternatives will be let in)

My little monster is spoiled and on top of that afraid of small confined places.

You can keep him in your truck if you want...

I just want to have all the dogs up while "John" is giving the seminar.

We can figure out something...

I was just messing with ya J.J. I can't make it this time cash is a little tight still. Would like to come to the next gtg tho.

But I was not joking about my dog being closterfobic tho.

In the next week I will have an outline of what he will go over.

This is really going to be a neat deal...

And $35 is a steal... This guy charges up to $150 a day and you will get all that for $35 with food included!!!!!

will the seminar be beneficial for a dog that i am trying to train for quail and pheasant hunting. i need to also get him trained on retreiving as well as pointing

The two that will be puttin on the seminar are nationally known trainers...

"Yes" they typically work with Lab's...but they also work with other dogs as well!

For $35 it will be worth it...in my opinion...

Remember this also includes lunch!

Curriculum for Hunting Retriever Training Seminar
From 9:00 to 10:30:
1. Selecting a puppy

2. Introducing Puppies to:
a. Water
b. Gunfire
c. Birds
d. Marking
e. Whistle Signals
f. Working Words
g. Developing a pup’s desire to hunt


From 10:30 to Lunch:
3. Training Curriculum for Hunting Retrievers
a. Proper use of ropes, leashes and electric collars
b. Collar Conditioning


From Lunch to End:
c. Force Fetch
d. Marking Concepts


This is the sequence of events for the day.

We need to go through the "Puppy" stuff, so that the rest of the day will make sense.

Depending on the dogs / and owners depends on how long we look at each item.

Right now it looks like we will have about a dozen people +/- which means you will really get a lot of hands on work with your dog.

Once again, $35 and lunch is included!

The experts are free to use her to show all the puppy stuff so I don't screw her up too badly!

At 9 weeks she is already an outstanding barker, chewer, digger, and nipper!

Really excited about this!!! Looks to be a "GREAT" day...

I am working on putting together a "workbook" that ya'll can get, take notes, and take home with you!

We are going to base this as the "first" event and will grow off it, and have another one probably the begining of fall as a follow up training seminar to expand on what we go over on this one!

Like I said, I have talked to the Event coordinator of Cabelas and she plans on joining us. I think she might bring along some "gifts" for those that attend!
