Being gas operated I wouldn't have thought it necessary.

Lampher custom arms in Princeton Tx does this kinda work. Did a 300 win mag for my neighbor after they were recommened by a guy on the board of directors of the dallas safari club. He just had holes drilled in the barrell but they could probably do a screw on as well. Looked like they did a perfect job to me and they can probably tell you what works best. You definitely want to have hearing protectors on when the 300 goes off. 972-734-1997 is their number. I'm thinking about taking some work over there so let me know what you think...

Why do you need a muzzle break on a 308 ? I have an AR-10 and have no problem leading hogs and firing multiple shots, further more its not like a 223 you dont require a 3 shot burst to drop something. Just asking from personal experiance the only rifles that really need breaks are guns over .300 win mag

You will not see any measurable difference off the bench unless you are flinching now and the muzzle break helps you stop flinching. There is no significant recoil until the bullet leaves the barrel, it's flight path already determined but for the atmospheric conditions. For a faster follow up shot, you will get much better effect and many fewer evil looks from anybody who has to be next to you or behind you when you are shooting if you use a sling. Also consider a forward pistol grip and adopt the trigger-hand elbow down: those two things together make for adequate accuracy and much faster follow up shots compared to the high-elbow form we are all familiar with. http://thetension.blogspot.com/2007/02/combat-camera-all-in-days-work.html

Had one of those on a bolt gun and it took the recoil down to nothing.

Let us know how it works for you. I've got a DPMS LR308B with the bull barrel so recoil is not so bad. I'm kinda interested if it makes the muzzle blast too loud. Who will you get to put it on for you?

It was to loud for me thats why I removed it and I just deal with the recoil.
