I am about to purchase a hydro dip system and was wondering how big of a demand there is for this service in Dallas area. I will be doing guns, bows etc. and will do auto parts, wheels, interior and exterior parts.

I don't know what hydrodipping is, so a couple of questions.

How big of a part can the machine handle?

What can be dipped(plastic, steel, aluminum)?

Can you make it any color?

I think you can see there is some demand. The biggest problem I've found, is that alot of guys around don't do the name brand camo patterns I'm looking for. Mossy Oak, bottomland, shadowgrass, and duck blind.

For the most part if it can be submerged in water and the part

will fit in the tank you can do it. Great surface prep is a must

for the film to stick along with the clear coat finish like your

car has. Supplies like activator are expensive, When done

correctly it will make for a finish that will look, wear, and

last. Wish you the best on your new business.

I guess I'm not clear how this would work on a blued firearm? I've seen it done on tv before but it was on plastic fenders, etc. for four wheelers. Seems to me if any moisture (water) remained on the metal (underneath the dip) that could really lead to some rust problems? Just asking.

It is an ink that is suspended in water. it is not a sticker. You clean the gun or fender and spray on primer coat. then suspend the pattern in water, then spray an activator to turn ink to liquid form. Then you lay part into it and after you rinse and apply clear matt/ gloss finish.

duracoat is a spray on finish and is a very good product, I will also do that at some point. With hydro dip you can put on a lot of different patterns, camo, metal, skulls, on about anything plastic, metal wood...Wheels, bumpers, atv skins.

Here is an example of water dipping. I got this done at Brileys about 5 or so years age, and it goes hunting in the bays(salt water) pretty often! This stuff is great. Gun is a Browning Citori.

I'm pretty interested in it as well...I have an enfield I think would look great with some good camo on it. Would it be just the stock, or would the barrel be done as well? I'm pretty curious - any help from you guys would be great.

I'm curious also but how does it affect the stamping on the guns like name, model and even serial numbers.
Is it all still readable?
Is this the stuff that is on the new camo shotguns?

I'm currently in the business and it's not as easy to do as it seems. As far as getting mossy oak or realtree very expensive to be honest, and more trouble than it's worth. Nonethless, good luck.

You can read the stamping on gun barrels. although not as sharp as without the covering. But it is completely legible.
