Does anyone know if any companies make waders that zip up the leg for above the knee amputees? I'm tired of duck hunting out of the boat and in blinds. The good spots are in the flooded timber where I would need to wade in. I'm not sure if waders are even an option. I might have to find some other way of getting into the timber. This is my first season hunting since I lost my leg. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I do not have the answer nor the lead however two places to check are Hodgemen waders and Ducks Unlimited. Give them a call and ask it can not hurt to ask them direct and who knows they might be able to custom make a pair which would require sealing off the leg at your desired length.

When my son was 5 he would hunt timber with us and we used a narrow boat to pull through the timber, once set up I would hang a deer stand on a tree about a foot above the water for him. The narrow boat was great and the stand allowed him to go into the timber where he would no be able to otherwise.

Please let me know if you find out anything on the waders as I know several people who would love to hunt timber again.

I would be willing to bet there is someone on here that can weld rubber so that you could just get a regular pair and weld the leg closed.

I lost my leg in Iraq and I use my chest waders about once a month. I am only a below the knee but my buddy is above and we fly fish and suck hunt together. You can get the waders on you just have to take you leg off and put it in the waders and then put your leg back in the socket. It takes a couple times to get a routine but it is just like everything else when you lose your leg.. It may take a little mor time but you can still do everyhing you used to enjoy.
