I have a Tikka T3 270 MSM, that my son would like to start hunting with. I am looking to put a muzzle brake on it. Does anybody have any advice, success/horror stories about the process and/or a particular muzzle brake.

I have heard about a "BP-tec VA comp" does anyone have any experience with these.

Any info would be appreciated.

Try a limbsaver recoil pad first. They give pretty impressive results for $30. I have the T3 in 25-06 and the pad made it much more pleasurable to shoot. The light weight of the Tikka makes them kick.

As for muzzle brakes, I have one on my .300 M77 and it helped a lot. Just LOUD. Not sure of the brand I have on mine.

I already have a limbsaver on it. It does help. I don't want to increase the sound. It is already loud enough.

You might try some "reduced recoil" ammo before a muzzle break. I don't have expreience with it, but I've been reading about it and it sounds pretty good.
