I think that if they will be getting it processed it should have the tag obviously and a hunters resource document with it.

the tag must stay with the meat, however when the deer is split up it requires a wildlife resource document on any portion that does not have a tag. this is an easy ticket for a game warden to issue so be careful

You need a wildlife resource document found in the back of the hunting manual provided when you buy your license. I have hunted in South Texas in fever tick infested area's . I have to fill out resource document giving the game to myself to take off from property.
