Anyone using this gun?

At 11.4 (12) ounces I'm willing to give her a try.

Get some good padded gloves.

I looked at those but couldn't justify it. It's an awesome carry gun because of the weight, but I think it's just too much cartridge for 12 ounces. They also make it in .38 +P.

I bought a 442 in .38. At 15 ounces with the +p loads it's a beast to handle. I can only imagine what the 340PD is.

My thought was what if some circumstance dictates that my wife needs to shoot it. Could she? Probably not more than once, no.

The 442 is really just a part time pocket gun for me. Main carry is a Sig P239 in .40 S&W. But I like to be prepared for all situations and that PD just didn't fit the bill for me.

I carry the S&W 360PD daily. I like it. Very easy to carry all day, can hide it almost anywhere. Sure, recoil is substantial but not unmanageable. I use a steel snub for range practice and only shoot the 360 to burn off the box of defensive carry rounds when I replace the old box with fresh stuff. I do have a set of Crimson Trace grips on the 360. Different ammunition is going to recoil differently - so experiment with several brands (especially regarding the no less than 120 grain caution). I found that the 38+p rounds had a bigger whallop than the straight 357 125gr Speer. Then I found Buffalo Bore 357 158gr tactical low flash, low recoil - and they are even better. Like I said, sure it is going to smack your hand - but this is a personal defense weapon, not a plinking gun.

Yep - my wife would rather not shoot my 360 either - so we have alternatives for her that work (probably better) - but she also knows what the 360 feels like recoilwise and would not hesitate to pick it up and use it should such a situation require it.

"I like to be prepared for all situations"

Thats why I want it. Currently, I'm attached to my Ruger 101. Kinda on the heavy side for all day body carry and hot weather.

I'm on the road all over the U.S. in the woods, road, and cities.

I keep a CCI shotshell in the pipe for snakes and four 357's, or 38 plus P's behind it.

I use Buffalo Bore 180's for wilderness and they have done the job on two occassions.

A straight 38 plus P won't do for all my situations and the BB 180's ain't a habit nor am I afraid to pull the trigger.

(I shot a 454 casull in a Bond Derringer and had hand surgery)

Thanks for the input, give me more.
