a coworker here at work wants to buy a .243 for his son so it should be a youth model we are looking for.. preferably a bolt action. just seeing what is possibly out there.

You won't find anything cheaper or better than the Marlin XS7. Academy gets $315 out the door. A friend just got one and is shooting 3/4 inch or better groups.

I agree with the others re the XS7. Got my son an XL7 at BPS $279.99. Great rifle for the money.

I am a dealer..but he was just exploring the possibility of someone having a budget priced rifle outthere somewhere.

I have a Rossi .243 single shot $175 shipped to you. Its just the one they have at academy for 200 bucks but it shoots fine. It is the youth model. It is like new with less than a box down the pipe (to sight it in). Shoot me a pm if you are interested.
