Yep. It's harder to shoot them when they can get away. If its in a high fence it's just a matter of time before you find one. Nothing personal, just my opinion.

I would probably shot it just because I would probably never see anything like it again but not at all what I am looking for in a deer. I dont even know if I would hang the mount with my others.

+1: if you pass on it, it would have been close to a 70 pointer the next year

I'd drop a buck with a rack like that in a heart beat. You can hunt your whole life and never see a non-typical like that.

In a heart beat. Just not on high fence. Not that I have anythign against hunting them, other than they are to darn expensive for me. Trophy fees and all that.

Horn Slayer, i like your perspective on this. i.e looking for sheds if i wasnt going to get a mount done that year.

the only thing i would disagree with is the idea that on a high fence you can see an animal whenever you want. maybe that is true on a 100 acre high fenced pasture. but not on most high fence ranches. take our ranch for example, when a deer has 2,000 acres to roam across and hide, i would challenge any idea that you can just go find the buck you want to shoot. it doesn't work that way. While i may see him on my game cams, it is another to see him in person

deer can hide in a lot of places

but again, i do like your idea on sheds. i spent three days looking for them last year and only found 2 separate sheds.
i enjoy that challenge too

I would shoot it, knowing it was given protein-roids. Probably got out of someone's high fenced property.

I couldn't agree more. The buck I killed had been seen maybe 20 times on night cameras during the growing season. We only had 2 pics of him in hard horn. No one had seen the deer in person from doing blind counts/or hunting from July until last weekend. I have on idea how many man hours were spent in blinds and no one ever saw him. Just because a high fence is present doesn't make it a sure thing.

I also like shed hunting. Only found 5-10 sheds this Spring. They can hide as much as the deer can.

Very nice non typical.

I guess I'd shoot it if I saw it but I'd much rather shoot a typical 12 pt or better.

The antlers are nice, but..

some people don't shoot high fenced deer
some people don't shoot spikes
some people don't shoot does
some people don't shoot deer.

So, the answer to your question is...some would and some wouldn't.

I'd prefer a big typical buck, but when it comes to being unique, those antlers are that. A trophy in its own right.
