Anybody ever use a pistol grip style shotgun for turkey hunting? I held one at Cabelas recently and seems like it would be great, but I haven't ever shot one or taken one into the field.

If you are talking about those defender style, short barrels you still want accuracy. A shot could be 40-45 yds and you're going to get less shot in a concentrated pattern from those.

The one I was looking at was a Remington Shurshot Turkey Shotgun

That would be a 23" barrel. By the time you add an extended choke, it will be perfect. Both my SP-10 and Max Gobbler shotguns have a 23" barrel. I've shot plenty of turkeys stone dead at 50 yds with these guns...just pattern your gun and know it's Point of Impact.

I owned the Shurshot and sold it after a couple hunts. The comb on the butt was so high I had to smash my face down against it to aim. Was very uncomfortable.

The Max Gobbler is a way better option IMO.

I own a shur shot and love it for turkey but hate it for doves or any other game.
