From what my panhandle guide says, it is looking very good. Will be up there 2nd week, and will get back 2 ya!

I have no idea about the southern panhandle, but the northern panhandle looks great, Saw a ton in sept, then a ton during corn harvest... I probley had over 100 fly out of one circle.

does anybody know of a good cheap guide up there in the panhandle or is it easier to go public land and hunt?? i've never hunted in the panhandle before but i would love to on a pheasant hunt up there. any suggestions?

There are a lot of very reasonable Texas Pheasant Guides on this forum.

I would go with a guide before you try a DIY hunt. Everyone likes to hunt them a little differently... You can learn a lot about differnt styles, birdy habitat and bird behavor, ect.. from a guide in a very short time.. Then you can determine what appraoch you want to take.

Had good success for the opener in Kansas. Hunted around Liberal. Hunting up around Dumas area for Texas opener. Should be a good opening day and season.
