I posted this earlier but wrong wording. So

Shooting 308, 150grain, how much drop at 250 yards.

One reply said somewhere around 6' if I read it right.

Depends on where it is sighted in. How high at 100yds? The shape of the bullet and the muzzle velocity make a difference, too. Assume you are dealing with factory ammo? What brand and bullet? As someone else said, need more info.

Sight in at 3" high at 100 yrds and should be killing what you aim at 200-250 yrds. But alot depends on gun and ammo.

You need to get a chronograph and find out your muzzle velocity with that bullet. Once you know that, you can find out more info. Im in the same boat. Im trying to come up with a balistics table for my BTHP match federal 308 round out of my AR-10T with a 26" Lothar Walther barrel. But, I need a chrony to find out MV. I have it sighted in two inches high at 100 yards. Im wanting to find out the table out pretty far as Im wanting to take some 500-600 yard shots.

Nathan:

Finding a place where you can shoot at 400-600 yards and actually shooting and measuring the trajectory would be much more reliable than measuring the MV and calculating.

this is what I do. I read up on my Burris ballistic-plex scopes and then when out and shot the ranges to be sure. Its a heck of alot of fun to and I love the delay at distance between the shot and when the round strikes the target against the big tree I shoot into.

Is that with it zeroed at 100 or 200 yards?

Im shooting Federal 168 gr Match BTHP. Ive got it zeroed two inches high at 100 yards. I havent been able to get out and shoot the distances yet as the only place I can shoot for distance we are hunting right now so it will have to wait until after deer season. From reading up though, it looks like I should expect between 8 inches and 14 inches of drop at 300 yards. Thats a big range. Will just have to get out there and shoot it.

it's with a 100 yd zero. i move my turrents to the correct anount of bullet drop, then return the rifle to zero when done shooting. (i dont hold over i guess is what i'm saying...)
