This was the best opening Saturday in years, rain kept everyone out of the field Sunday. Looking foreward to a December hunt.

What part of kansas? I pray they have a good winter and next spring so they can rebound with the numbers they have this year. Kansas is due to come back.

We hunted Hunter and came back early. Our group of 7 killed 7 birds in 2 days. We hunted everything and just couldn't find birds. Glad to hear some of yall had luck!

CSA81- Thanks for the report. I'd read the numbers were lower in the western half of north central KS. Guess you confirmed it. What about quail, did you see many?

There's a thread on the PDJ forum, and they are echoing you guys. Looks like a great year in Kansas. I wish we could say the same about quail in Texas.

hunted NW kansas sat and sun and got into some birds. 12 of us saturday hunted til 2:00, 2 short of a limit. sunday was snowy and wet, hunted til 11 and got 20. about half the corn is still standing, so it should save a lot of birds for later in the season.

7 of us got 19 on Sat. Some didn't get shot at cuz the tails were so short we thought they were hens. Should have had more, but dogs were havin trouble smelling them and they were running.
Saw lots of birds though, very promising for later in the season. We didn't get to hunt Sunday

Some of you guys don't click onto the cooking forum. Try this:

Thai Pheasant Wraps- You can't just stop at 2

13 oz carrots, coarsely grated
13 oz white or savory cabbage shredded
4 boneless pheasant breasts, cooked and sliced

Dressing:

4 tablespoons peanut butter
8 tablespoons coconut milk
1 fresh red chili, finely chopped
2 tablespoons chopped cilantro
flour tortillas or pita bread

In a large bowl, mix all salad ingredients. In a small bowl whisk all dressing ingredients.

Drizzle dressing over salad, add cooked pheasant, and toss together.

3. Serve on tortilla or pita bread.
