OK Dude is settling in fine... the two other dogs in the house cant stand her and the kids and wife dote over her every day...
the pup is only 6 weeks old now so I have not done any real training except SIT and I dont expect much from her for a few more weeks at least.
My question is I know ALL puppys chew, and so does Dude but when I am playing with her she likes to bite, I usually roll a flap of her lip between my hand and her teeth so she wont bite so hard... should I correct her? and if I do will it cause more harm than good? or am I over thinking it and I just need to let her be a puppy for awhile?

I am by no means a pro trainer. I will share my opinions with you, and you can decide for your self. EVERY day is training, most young pups like to bite when they play. This also helps establish their dominance within their pack. The sooner your dog understands that you are boss and biting is not acceptable, the sooner training will be able to take place. There are plenty of methods to get the point across. The hard part is enforcing it. You must use some type of aversive stimulation (Pinch gums/ snout - scold - raised voice) Point is the dog must know you are unhappy with the behavior. Then offer something constructive the dog can do with its mouth. (carry bumper / toy etc.) Once little vampire gets that you are boss and no biting is allowed you can move on to other training. If she is to be a bird dog -- Remember -Birds- make a bird dog.

i think you shouldnt be doing any training at all. you just brought that pup home a week ago, she needs to get used to her new home for a few weeks. sure, you can teach her NO when she bites, but dont start training yet, everything should be FUN.
btw, why did you name a female "dude"? just curious

A dog at that age is not trying to dominate you. I have tried to help people in the past on this forum that thought their puppy was showing dominant behavior and they did not listen. Instead they listened to the person that thought they needed to pick the dog up and alpha roll them, which is ridiculous. The problems that came up according to their post after applying all of the bad advice was inevitable. Let the pup be a pup! Puppies chew on stuff and like playing. Let it play, this should be a fun time.

I think letting out some sort of loud, startling yelp if it bites you is appropriate. I'll only "alpha roll" my dog if he starts being aggressive towards me, beyond a little nibble, only happened once or twice.

Let the pup be a puppy for a while. With both of my labs I didn't start correcting them for biting until they were about 10 weeks old. I started with holding their snout closed and shaking their head gently and stating "NO". That worked quickly with one of my labs. The other lab it took a little longer and what I ended up doing was holding her mouth like I was lipping a fish with my thumb and index finger. She hated that and stopped nipping at my hands shortly after that. Hope this helps, I know it might not but it's what worked for my dogs. Good luck and most importantly have a lot of fun with your new puppy.

1st let the puppy be a puppy. she really needs to be having fun, with everone especially the owner. however, would you let your 2 yr old son come up and hit people for fun? not me, bad behavior needs to be corrected and appropriate for each child do not over correct, and the rules change slightly as they grow up just like they did for you. also, it should quickly be forgotten dont dwell on it. i couldnt tell you how many dogs that have came to me at 6m old that was biting everyone for fun and they were ready to get rid of.

Make it sting but not hard. Reinforce with a stern no and divert it's attention. After awhile, NO will suffice. Make sure to love following so the pup recognizes the difference.
