My place is across from the Anacacho Ranch in Spofford and I was wondering if anyone knew anything about that place. I have always been in awe of that place becasue of the massive deer i see on it, the air strip, its massive size and the game fence(prolly the most badas* fence in Texas). Once heard a rumor the owner bought a buck for a friend to hunt but he ended up shooting it in the cage. Game Warden saw it and banned the place from hunting so now 200 class bucks die of old age. Curious if ya'll have heard anything about it.

Never heard of it, but why would someone get in trouble for shooting a deer in a "cage" as long as all of the other rules (license, season, weapon, etc) were followed? Stupid, yes. Unsporting, yes. No fun, yes. But illegal?

That is one incredible fence. Drove by that place several months back. Had to google the ranch when I got home. What I recall, a prominent architect/hotel developer from San Antonio owned the place and would use his laborers during slow times to build that fence. Formed and poured all those curved concrete fence posts(if you can even call them posts) in place. I don't recall the hotel he owned, but it is a ritzy downtown landmark, and I believe it still has an "Anacacho Ballroom".

The Anacacho is owned by Richard French of French Tool Company. I believe he is out of Midland, TX.
