We don't have a funnel in ours. But, I think it would be better if you did. We are always having to lay over the feeder and knock out the molded protien feed before we fill it back up again. There isn't that much feed left in the bottom. But, if you don't knock it out each time, it adds up in time.

All of ours have funnels, without a funnel it just causes to many problems, clogging with or without any moisture.

We don't use any funnels in ours. Since I started mixing the protein feed with corn, I haven't had any problems with the feed clogging up.
